St Mirren has now formally moved operations to its new stadium in Greenhill Road, handing over their old Love Street site to supermarket giant Tesco in a deal reported to be worth £15m. Property Week reports that St Mirren have been able to clear debts of up to £2.2million as a result of the deal.
Despite already having planning permission for a supermarket, Tesco have also reportedly sought permission for a housing development at the Love Street site. The ground in Paisley, Scotland had been home to the Scottish Premier League side for 115 years.

The New St Mirren Park stadium has a capacity of 8,000 and features five a side pitches and corporate hospitality facilities.

Timesonline reported on St Mirren manager Gus Macpherson’s first thoughts on the new stadium:
“Everyone is very excited about it, we are all looking forward to getting down here on a day-to-day basis and familiarise ourselves with the surroundings,The most important aspect for me is the playing surface and it’s top-class.”
